Artist Statement
Sprinkled throughout the past several years I have produced numerous pieces of artwork ranging from painting, to drawing, to photography, and to my personal favorite sculpture. I have had the pleasure to be a part of a number of shows in such places like Philadelphia, Mexico, and France. I have studied and explored the famous artist of the world in Europe and lived in Rome.
The art that I create is an extension of my personality and who I am. Bright, witty, modern, and to the point I leave everything open to the naked eye, allowing the viewer the opportunity to construct their own meaning and opinions from what I create. My goal is that everyone can take a little something away from my art, giving them a sneak peak at what encompasses who I am.
Being a product of the 90’s, I was exposed to the greatest decade of television ever. With network phenomenons like SNICK, Nickelodeon, TGIF, The Disney Afternoon, and Kids WB, I was heavily influenced by pop culture and cartoons, which is very evident in my artwork.
Some people may call my artwork kitsch, but I don’t take that in a negative way. I want to take joy out of the art that I make using my wealth of knowledge of my childhood influences, and hopefully brighten other’s days for viewing it. I find joy in bringing other people happiness, and my artwork is just one way of doing that.
